The OEM or “factory” tint that comes standard on the rear glass of most trucks and suvs doesn’t actually keep out heat or harmful UV rays. It is referred to as “privacy tint” and is actually closer in relation to the stained glass you’d find in a church than it is to window tint!
This is why we encourage customers with kids or pets that will be in the rear seats to opt for tinting over the rear glass with a lighter ceramic window tint to reject heat, UV, and infrared without making the windows too dark to see out of at night.
